Un chant d'amour
Jean Genets kontroversielle klassiker, og hans eneste film.
Only 26 minutes long. The only film the writer Jean Genet ever made and then without dialogue, a silent film. It was banned for many years as homosexual pornography. I find it a very sensual film. In the prison the prisoners are locked up alone, so they engage in masturbatory acts. The guard looks through the hole. The beloved is absent. This is a film that shows how erotic smoking and smoke can be. To kiss by not kissing, but inhaling smoke.
Again the use of close-ups, mouths and faces … the body language of longing.
Something I often try to deal with in my work. See some of the facial expressions of my Venus, between pleasure and sorrow. Andy Warhol was a fan of this movie too.
