To søstre som bor sammen med faren sin i Tokyo. Moren stakk av da de var små og søstrene har ikke hatt særlig mye hell i kjærlighet. Takako flyttet hjem med sin lille datter etter at hun ikke orket å bo sammen med sin alkoholiserte ektemann lenger, mens den yngre søsteren Akiko, som er student, finner ut at kjæresten Kenji heller ikke er mye å samle på når hun finner ut at hun er gravid.
