Herfra til evigheten

I forbindelse med Munchmuseets utstilling «Måneoppgang: Marlene Dumas & Edvard Munch» viser vi en filmserie kuratert av Marlene Dumas med filmene som har inspirert hennes kunst.

Marlene Dumas om Herfra til evigheten:

This film was made in the year I was born. I only saw the film very recently on TV.

There is also a very touching role of Frank Sinatra, who I for the first time saw as being attractive.

The main story revolves around a secret love affair while stationed in a military base in Hawai.

The film still of the kiss at the seashore is even more famous than the film, as I knew their kiss but not the movie! When looking for a woman wanting to kiss a man regarding my Venus and Adonis drawings, I used this image for inspiration. The wet bodies with the sea rushing in and out is obviously sexually arousing, but especially her hand was important for my drawing. How it gripped the man’s shoulder. Sometimes the content of a work recides in a small detail.
