Harajuku is the new feature by one of our up and coming directors, Eirik Svensson. After graduating from the Norwegian Film School in 2010 he has made four features, all focusing on young people. While the main characters of his first film, Must Have Been Love, were in their early twenties, One Night in Oslo and Harajuku concern teenagers facing problems they clearly are too young to handle.
This certainly applies to Vilde in Harajuku, a 15 year old girl with a difficult background. When her mother suddenly dies, she only has one plan – getting enough money to travel to Harajuku, the part of Tokyo where youths who are into anime, cosplay and visual kei gather and new fashions are created. Vilde dreams of becoming part of this, of finding a place where she can belong. But the night before Christmas in Oslo S is a difficult place to make your dreams come true.
